IN-SANCTUS?

A necessary look at the projected society of gender equality and diversity which we walk towards, but is it real?

In-Sanctus? Wants to say NO to gender violence, with the photography as a tool. It is a tribute in life to them, a representation to all those martyrs of the different kinds of social abuse that women suffer, in all its wide range of feminine genders.

In-Sanctus? Is a project materialised in colour digital photography through which Vanessa and Susana want to explore the power of beauty in opposition to the visual impact and cruelty of a hard reality.

A message that tries to bother the audience because, as the artists express, the discomfort of the issue doesn’t relay on exposing it but in its mere existence. This interrogation mark is based from a misericord plane in pure state. A question that becomes trivial in the moment of choosing an approach where action wins in front of harmless compassion.

Simple as setting a table, lay the cloth, open your questions looking for answers, but no one has the answers but everybody wants to speak out. Stories, real as your skin, next to your door, we can’t believe it but they’re just right there, next to your daughter, or your sister, your just yourself.

The contrast of this struggle for gender equality with the prolonged existence of customs and values rooted in the past, results in a great difficulty towards evolution.

In-Sanctus? Wants to create a map of gender necessities in different cities. It has been selected by the visual arts subsidies UNZIP 2021 in the category of photography and society, in El Prat de Llobregat, where the artists have been working together with the local women on the creative process.

The exhibition of the piece will be in the gallery of the CCJardins de la Pau in El Prat de Llobregat till the 23rd of January 2022.
